Maka Chkhaidze InForm — platform for inclusive minds

"I believe performing arts can shape the future. That’s why I build an inclusive platform where people with disabilities move from the margins to the center."

"My greatest aspiration is to establish a permanent performing arts center in Georgia, an inclusive space where creatives of all abilities can come together to create, experiment, and bring bold, innovative, and unique artistic visions to life. "

Maka is a Georgia-based cultural manager and curator with a background as a trained actor. Her primary interest lies in researching and using performing arts as a tool in building relations between disconnected, underrepresented social groups. In 2022 she founded the non-profit organisation InForm – Platform for Inclusive Minds, which advocates for bringing the disability narrative into the performing art scene in Georgia and links the contemporary arts and disability communities.

She is the creator of an inclusive contemporary dance theatre group which has dancers and actors of mixed abilities. The troupe develops original and collaborative performing art productions at the local and international levels, as well as conducting educational programmes and fostering an inclusive arts community.

Funding

Through the venturenauten Community, Maka received:

  • Mentoring from Christian Rosche
  • Valuable network connections
  • Financial assistance that have been critical to the development of Maka's artistic vision

Especially the connection to Sasha Walz became a pivotal moment in Maka's journey and led to the production of the first and only inclusive version of "In C" by Sasha Waltz & Guests in Tbilisi. The production became a landmark theatrical event in Georgia, significantly raising the visibility of our inclusive performing arts group.

Additionally, with the financial support of the venturenauten community, Maka was able to produce the documentary film "IN C – Tbilisi", directed by Mariam Chachia. The film captures the creative process behind the performance and tells the deeper story of the group’s vision, impact, and inclusivity. It stands as a powerful document of what inclusive performance can achieve, both artistically and socially.

The film is currently not publicly available as it is in its festival cycle. For viewing requests, please contact Maka Chkhaidze directly at inform.maka@gmail.com

Next Steps

Further Funding is needed for:

  • International touring and Festival Participation — approx. €10,000 per tour covering transportation, accommodation, and honorariums for an average group of 12 participants.
  • New Production in Georgia — approx. €20,000 to fund concept development, rehearsals, artists' fees, production design, and technical costs.
  • Maintaining Annual Production Showcase (Theatre Season in Georgia) — approx. €15,000  to ensure regular performances, community engagement, and artistic visibility throughout the year.
  • Individual Donations — every contribution, regardless of size, supports our day-to-day operations and helps sustain our inclusive creative platform.

Besides financial, one of the greatest needs is visibility, spreading the word about Maka's work. International media coverage and outreach to performing arts communities worldwide are essential to building connections, inviting collaborations, and positioning their unique contemporary dance-theatre group from Georgia on the global stage.

The organization currently runs on a project-based model. Over the years, Maka has received support from institutions such as the Federal Foreign Office, Goethe Institut, UN Women, Tbilisi Municipality, the Georgian Ministry of Culture, and various private donors.

However, one of the most pressing challenges is sustainability. In order to continue and expand this important work, Maka is seeking support that will enable the transition from a temporary, project-based activity to a long-term, stable institution with financial independence.
